Well written, Jason. I must say it has been a melancholy day at work today, and I am feeling the sadness for all of our colleagues. Gone are the good ol’ days we shared at RedWest, but definitely those memories will be cherished.

Jason, we have never met in perosn; however, I can share you leave an admirable legacy. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard your name in conversation, and in a postivie way. Your confessions above reflect a high level of class and character. Clearly a destiny awaits you, and may it appear soon!
Mate – for once I’m lost for words! Those SES videos were awesome and as for TPKE…….! I’m sure this is the door opening to bigger and better things. When you’re working in Hollywood will you still have the time video our wedding??!! 🙂

Just goes to show that even the mighty Microsoft is not “recession proof”. I’m sure your attitude will soon hear you saying “So this is why ….” – as you move on to the next phase of your life.
Gilb, I’m so sorry to hear this. I work for a media company, so 1 possible route to take would be to find out who is taking over the Microsoft account/work you did and contact them directly. They might really value your insight on the account. I know alot of times, we have to let people go because we lost a specific account, and it rarely has to do with quality of performance, but more like you said on the economics and their job just being phased out (if they were client specific). Good luck to you, and let me know if you do move back to Chi, if you’d want to play some softball in Mt Prospect. Tell Jen what up too. -Bow

There will always be a need for your genius so I haven’t the slightest doubt that you are on to bigger and better things. Plus I still think you look like Vin Diesel so you have that going for you.
Quiet morning here without you–your post is awesome. You’ve inspired several of your colleagues who met the same fate yesterday–your professionalism speaks volume about your character. You are an extrodinarily talented individual and MSFT lost a great asset yesterday. More importantly though this opens a new door for you and the family. I have no doubt that your talent and eye for the “fun side” will in fact have us saying “I knew JYO back when he played softball in a game that got interrupted by Bill Gates’ helicopter.” We’ll keep in touch (have to keep giving you Cubs/Cards flack!).
You’re one hell of a good guy and extremely funny, creative and talented. The office definately won’t be the same without your presence, you’ll be sincerely missed. With your skills and ambition I have no doubt you’ll find yourself in an even better situation very soon. We’ll definately stay in touch.
Your love of meat was truly the stuff of legends. The jimmy train may never again leave the station. You always made work fun and i know with your enthusiasm and work ethic that you’ll be successful wherever you land.

Jason – I dont know you from Adam, but came across your blog. I marvel at the mature approach you are taking to your difficult situation and I am sure it will be the key reason why you will be successful in the long run. You seem to have a genuine, down-home goodness in your self which comes from confidence and a faith that your future rests in His will. My best wishes to you in your life-journey!
Truly sorry to hear this happened to you. You should know that your post has helped make sense of an inexplicable situation and has inspired many of those who were touched by this layoff. You are truly a class act for taking the high ground and sharing your thoughts with everyone. I trust karma will be kind to you.
